Abstract

The Foreword describes the genesis of the book project, including the background of the editors and how they came to conceive the book. The crucial role that e-learning can play in alleviating numerous elementary and secondary education problems is described, and examples are given of ways in which nations are modeling its use. Efforts by the U.N. and other global players to expand K-12 e-learning are cited, along with some potential factors in program success. The stories shared in the book are seen as an important step along the path to universal access to quality education.
